One of the best ideas I’ve seen in a long time: Jayson Home & Garden seed bombs. Nine dollars gets you five one-inch bombs in a nifty muslin pouch. Plant the bomb, enjoy your wildflowers. It’s really that simple.

my heart is still slightly broken that domino is gone. but there is a promising newbie on the scene that made its premiere this week: lonny magazine.

so far, it’s simply an online mag, but it’s anything but simple. weighing in at one hundred ninety four pages, it’s a heavyweight contender for sure.

and each page is stocked to its potential with luscious design tips, gardening dos and dont’s, style watch, and home tours.

seriously. do yourself a favor. check it out.

The quality of the photo isn’t so good – I took it with my Macbook because my digital camera is busted. Bummer.

ANYway, here’s the finished wall. It took me about a week, but I also repainted the hallway in between coats since I had all my painting gear out.

The table is from Schlotsky’s and the desk is a rummage sale find. Project = success! I love it.

If my parents taught me anything, it’s that outlandish colors go out of style and therefore you should never, ever, use them to decorate with, except possibly as an accent.

I’ve lived nearly thirty years afraid to surround myself with color. No more.

The very next project (after the afghan I’m knitting for an upcoming wedding) will be painting a wall in my living room the most outlandish, fun, go-out-of-style-soonish color of blue I can find. Huzzah!

So, I found this new beauty line at Target called Soap and Glory. Normally, I don’t do soaps and lotions. I just don’t like having a bunch of stuff on my skin. Admittedly, I picked up this little set for the bag alone.

But let me tell you, one whiff of this stuff will make you a believer.

Oh yeah, they’re witty, too. With nuggets like this on the label: “Tested in England by a bunch of dirty rotten scoundrels” and “if you should inadvertently get the Clean of England into your eyes, rinse them immediately with cool water (while repeating ‘I beg your pardon, Ma’am’),” and “This is not food. It’s body butter.” You can even submit an oldish looking photo of you (or someone you know) for consideration to be used as a label on one of their next products. How can you not love a company like that?

Working on making some DIY coasters from images in a children’s book I found on a Goodwill shelf.

I’ll post more photos when they’re done, but for now here’s one that I totally fell in love with.

I saw Ira Glass at the Peace Center in Greenville, SC, a few weeks ago and it was one of the best gifts I ever gave myself. His thoughts on storytelling actually saved my life a little bit. The man is simply…. well, let’s just say if you don’t already know what he is, you’re missing out.

But fret not. If you don’t podcast This American Life or listen to NPR, it’s not too late. Climb aboard the Wagon.
